Story of Rashila Tamang

Rashila Tamang is 19 years old and hails from Dhading, coming from a farming family, she had never participated in any running race till the International Women’s Day 5K fun run on March 5, 2016. Rashila ran with her slippers and came third whereas first and second finishers were expats. She didn’t know anything about trail running. Himalayan Outdoor Festival spotted her in the Fun Run and invited her for the Hattiban Tail Race. Rashila did not have proper shoes and running clothes but she ended up winning the race in her very first trail running competition. She is no longer just a simple mountain girl, she has now become a well- known personality in the field of Ultra-race. She has competed in numerous ultra-marathons and is becoming a rising star, a pride to her community, an inspiration to girls in Nepal. She’s sought after for ultra-races both in Nepal and outside. It is the story like Mira and Rashila that inspired the vision of Woman’s Run, and they are becoming true as we live it.
