Stitching Dreams
Nabina Tamang is a determined and resilient young woman who defied societal norms to pursue her dreams. Growing up in a poor family in a rural village, she developed the belief that girls should be ambitious and be at the forefront. But Nabina knew she deserved more in life.
She took a bold step and left her hometown to move to Kathmandu. Initially, she worked in a small wool business, but her true passion was in tailoring. Life in urban Kathmandu was challenging as she struggled to make ends meet, but Nabina remained determined to follow her dreams. Fortunately, fate smiled upon her when she discovered Higher Ground, a place that supported her love for tailoring and also offered her an opportunity to study rural development.
Currently, Nabina is living at the Protection and Care Center of Higher Ground and has become a certified tailor. With her skills and knowledge, she dreams of establishing her own business. Her inspiring journey teaches us to follow our passion, stay true to ourselves, and break free from societal pressure that tries to hold us back.
